It comes from the Hebrew letters of the alphabet having not only symbols and sounds, but also number values as well. Any word, name, or group of words will have a corresponding number from adding up the individual number values of each letter in them. These number values also have meanings associated with them. This is simple gematria.
I have learned in my years of study (through reverse engineering) how to "interpret" Latin letters (The English Alphabet), words, and names into numbers which correspond to the original Hebrew numbers and meaning for all these numbers.
